Past simple (I did)
過去式
   A. Study this example:閱讀下列例題
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was an Austrian musician and composer. He lived from 1756 to
1791. He started composing at the age of five and wrote more than 600 pieces of music. He
was only 35 years old when he died.
           →Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart是一個澳洲音樂家也是作曲家。他生於1756過世於1791年。他在
               他5歲時開始寫作而且超過600篇的音樂作品。當他過世時他只有35歲。

          Lived/started/wrote/was/died
 are all past simple.

   B. Very often the past simple ends in –ed (regular verbs):
        過去式很常用以–ed結尾 (規則動詞)
          1. I work in a travel agency now. Before that I worked in a department store.
              →我現在在旅行社工作。 在這之前我在百貨公司工作。

          2. We invited them to our party, but they decided not to come.
              →我們邀請他們來我的的派對,但他們決定不來。

          3. The police stopped me on my way home last night.
              →警察昨天在我回家的路上把我攔下來。

          4. Laura passed her examination because she studied very hard.
             →Laura通過了她的考試因為她很努力讀書
But many verbs are irregular. The past simple does not end in –ed. For example:
         但很多動詞是不規則的。過去式不是–ed結尾,如
          Write wrote
Mozart wrote more than 600 pieces of music.
                 Mozart寫超過600篇音樂作品
          See saw

           Shut shut
It was cold, so I shut the window.
                 →天氣很冷,所以我關窗戶

    C. In questions and negatives we use did/didn't + infinitive (enjoy/see/go etc.):
          在問句和否定中我們使用did/didn't + infinitive(不定詞) (enjoy/see/go etc.):

I           enjoyed
                  She         saw
                 They        went
                  She didn't see
                  Did she see?

        1. A: Did you go out last night? →你昨天晚上出去嗎?
B: Yes, I went to the cinema, but I didn't enjoy the film much.

           →你有時間寫信嗎?  沒有,我沒有時間

In the following examples, do is the main verb in the sentence (did…do / didn't do):
             再下列的例句中,do在句中是主要動詞
               1. What did you do at the weekend? (not What did you at the weekend?)
                   →你假日在做什麼
              2. I didn't do anything. (not I didn't anything)

→我什麼都沒做

    D. The past of be (am/is/are) is was/were:be (am/is/are)的過去式是was/were
              I/he/she/it             was/wasn't
                 Was                  I /he/she/it?
            We/you/they          were/weren't

                Were                  we/you/they?

That we do not use did in negative and questions with was/were:
           我們不在否定句中把didwas/were一起用
            1. I was angry because they were late.
                →因為他們遲到我生氣了

            2. Was the weather good when you were on holiday?
